Tips for Creating a Standout Logo
Creating a logo is no easy job, but it isn’t tricky too, that is if you know what you are doing. I need creativity and uniqueness. I need originality and appeal. It should stand for something. And then there is no stopping your brand as your logo will appeal to the masses and become famous and successful.
These are tips for creating a standout logo:
- ASSOCIATIVE AND MEMORABLE
Your logo should smart and straightforward and it should an association in the minds of the customer. Your logo should be memorable and it should an impression on the subconscious of the consumers. For example, the Nestle logo has a bird in a nest and that gives us feeling of home as if we are being nurtured.
- LOGO SHOULD BE STRAIGHT AND SIMPLE
Do not try too many stunts with your logo. Keep it short and simple or KISS it. A simple logo is easy to remember and will stay in the mind of the customer. And will influence him when he is making a buying decision. A good example is the apple logo. It is an eaten apple, but its tagline says it all ‘think different’ and it always stays in your mind. You think you will stand out and unique if you are an apple user.
- UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT
Use your creativity and imagination to come up with something not yet done. Come out with new ideas and concepts and then keep them on the table to fine tune and tweak your logo and tagline. Use sober colors and don’t go beyond two colors. Even colors build an association, for example, they associate Maggie with yellow and McDonald’s with yellow and red and so on. Your logo should make associations in the minds of the customer and should create a lasting impression.
- ORIGINALITY
inspired but do not copy ideas and logo styles. A recent example is I took PayTm wallet service to court by PayPal over the similarities in the logo color schemes and styles. If you cheat I will catch you and instead of living with this fear be original.
- EASY TO UNDERSTAND
The logo should be easy to understand and it should not have complex imagery. Just a simple picture of something familiar and ordinary can make it extraordinary.
- IT SHOULD STAND FOR SOMETHING
Your logo should not just be pictures. It should stand for something and only then will it stay in the mind of the masses.
Thus as we can see if you want your logo to stand out you have to be original. Think different, use imagery and colors and the logo should stand for something. Only then, will the ordinary person take notice and your logo will become a great brand, which affects the buying decisions of the masses?
